Weekly Wantings: Pink Coats

I know I know. I'm behind on the whole pink coat trend. To be honest when I first saw people on Instagram, Twitter, Bloglovin etc discussing pink coats, I thought they were awful. Fast forward a few months or so, and now I desperately want one. 

At first when I heard about pink coats, an automatic disgusted expression appeared on my face. All I could envisage were hideous hot-pink or Barbie-pink coloured coats. Now I know I'm a girl but I've never been a big fan of pink clothes. Pink lipsticks and blushers are fine, but a hot-pink dress? Not a fan. 

However when I spotted pastel pink coat photos floating around the web I changed my mind. Gone were the ideas of walking Barbies and in replacement was the image of an elegant Audrey Hepburn lookalike. 

The pastel pink coat is elegant looking and wonderful for Winter. I love the different shapes and styles of the coats too. Some, such as the ASOS coat in the top right of my Polyvore collage, is a vintage-style cocoon coat. It's beautiful and long-line and would have been perfect for Holly to wear in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Sadly long-line coats never look right on me as I'm 5 ft 3 with tiny legs so they swamp me. But if you are tall and looking for a beautiful pink coat, this is the one for you.

I also love the two coats on the bottom even though they're mohair which I've never been too keen on. The Topshop one is more of a light pink than pastel but I love the shape of it (sadly it isn't on their website anymore). The boyfriend one from New Look is one of my favourites due to the shape of the collar and style of the sleeves. Boyfriend coats are also incredibly comfy and are easy to layer up. 

My favourite of all the pink coats is the Zara woolen overcoat on the top left. I'm desperate to find this coat as all sizes are sold out online. Anyway, I prefer woolen coats to mohair and this one is a shorter style so it won't make me look smaller than I already am. The buttons and style of this coat make it classy but beautiful. It's only £79.99 as well which I'd say is good for a coat. I definitely need a pink coat this year so let the hunt for the perfect one begin!

Fjallraven Kanken is a Swedish brand of backpack that I've been spotting all over the blogging world currently. Having never heard of the brand before I was first drawn to them by their extensive range of colours. I love how classic they look, and their backpacks are stylish yet practical. I particularly love the lilac and burgundy one. Tempted to invest in one for travelling...

Weekly Wantings: Punk

Punk seems to the current trend for Autumn and Winter and I can't get enough of it. Every shop I walk either has leather or tartan everywhere and every blog post I read features cut out boots. Last year the H&M tartan scarf was something I missed on and I was absolutely gutted as it was everywhere. I haven't found another tartan scarf like the H&M one yet so I've gone in search of other things.

This tartan dress from River Island caught my eye as I love anything with sleeves and a peter pan collar. The toned down tartan print makes the collar stand out which drew me to it. 

The boots are another River Island item. I tried on 2 other pairs in store that I had previously been looking at online but they looked dreadful on me. One pair just didn't look right at all while the others made my short chunky legs look even chunkier... I was gutted at first as I love cut out boots. The other day however, I spotted these beauties and decided to try them on. It was love at first site and they looked amazing. I'm still debating buying them and will most likely end up doing. Chunky boots and dresses are a favourite pairing of mine.

A couple of weekends ago me and my friend Krishna went to Leeds. We wandered around the Vivienne Westwood shop and I was blown away by everything. The jewellery is gorgeous and these safety pin earrings are definitely on my Christmas list. Vivienne Westwood was known for bringing punk into mainstream fashion and that fact makes these earrings even better.

My last weekly wantings item is yet again from River Island. Leather jackets are a wardrobe staple and this one is fairly cheap at £45 even though it isn't real leather. The zips also make it a little different to the usual leather jacket.

The best thing about the punk trend is that you can go all out or keep it subtle; and these 4 items can be used together or with other outfits to create the desired effect you want.

Weekly Wantings: Statement Necklaces 

Big necklaces are everywhere at the moment. Going into your local Topshop or New Look is like visiting a sweet store, so many different necklaces to choose from. I love how a simple outfit can change with statement necklaces like the ones in this post.

These are a few of my current favourites; and if you haven't already realised, I really like the triangle style ones.All of these necklaces are from New Look, ASOS and Marks & Spencers. I particularly like the two smaller arrow spike necklaces from New Look and both the colours they come in.

Weekly Wantings

Weekly Wantings No. 3 by alicelucyrose-1

I am currently addicted to putting all the clothes/jewellery/shoes/bags/makeup/etc onto my Polyvore account at the moment... It's making it very difficult not to whip out my debit card and purchase all the pretty items on there. 

Polyvore is great if you're like me and bookmark/favourite every item you see online. It may seem a good idea at the time but scrolling through endless website savings to find one page is tortuous. However, with Polyvore you can place a 'Clip to Polyvore' on your bookmark toolbar and it saves images with the price tag and the site the item is from. No more having to go and make a cup of tea while your computer scrolls on forever to your wanted website link.

Anyway these are my favourite items from my Weekly Wantings series (I've done 3 now ooooh). I admit I've already purchased the bag from Zara this afternoon... I'm so iffy with bags; they need to be big enough to carry around all the necessities but without being too humongous. After seeing it appear on Olivia's blog the other day I decided I 'needed' it & had to order it off Zara's website. The delivery for Zara is very impressive as well. I ordered the bag at around noon today, chose the standard delivery and received an email at 7pm telling me it's arriving tomorrow. Fast and easy delivery is always good. 

I'm not usually a heel fan as 80% of the time I resemble a newborn foal in them. These ones from ASOS are gorgeous though. The heels are fairly small so they could be suitable for day and night. I'd love to purchase them but buying shoes online is such a pain; especially if you have wide feet like me. I'll have a nosey in the shops instead to find a similar pair.

This yellow dress by Pop Boutique on ASOS caught my eye as it reminds me of the dresses Suzy Bishop wears in Moonrise Kingdom. Any clothing that reminds me of a Wes Anderson film is an instant favourite of mine. Not sure if I could pull this look off, although I still adore that dress. The earrings are also from ASOS and suit the dress perfectly. Huge, dangly earrings just look good with everything.

I love this nail varnish from Topshop as it's a simple yet elegant colour and doesn't really draw any attention away from the dress.

Weekly Wantings: The Roaring Twenties

The 1920s, otherwise known as the 'Roaring Twenties' or 'Jazz Age', was an era which seemed to introduce modern fashion into Western society. Bobbed hair, shift dresses and elegant fabrics such as velvet & satin were all over the place; not forgetting flapper dresses.

The latest film version of The Great Gatsby channelled the fashion of the 20s perfectly. After watching the film I was fascinated and jealous of the beautiful jewellery Carey Mulligan was wearing. I searched around a little for more information and found out that Tiffany & Co. had designed all the jewellery. I was particularly amazed by the earrings and went on a hunt online for the perfect Gatsby-esque ones. A long trawl of the internet resulted in barely anything so I ended up giving up; that was, until the other day..

After looking on Marks & Spencer's website at dresses (the Limited Edition ones are really nice) a gorgeous pair of earrings popped up on my homepage. Further noseying on page after page at their jewellery led me to find this 3 pairs of gorgeous earrings. As soon as I saw them I remembered my quest for Gatsby-esque earrings. I particularly love the ones on the right and may have to buy them.

Weekly Wantings

I've been wanting to create a collage of all my current things I want or are on my wish list for a while. There is one other wish list post on my blog but the collage was done on paint and is therefore hideous quality. After searching through the programmes on my laptop to create a decent collage & finding none of them could do so I gave up and decided to finally get Polyvore. The website overall is great and very easy to use for putting things like this together but they didn't have some of the more 'obscure' items I wanted to put on; an example of this being the graphic novel Black Hole.

Anyway, these are the items I am lusting after this week. First up is this gorgeous dress from Motel which is in the sale at the moment. I'm always iffy about Motel dresses now as it seems the sizes have changed a lot since I bought my first dress (all the way back in 2009/2010). Maybe it's the fact that I used to wear this style of dress in a million different prints and no dress has ever lived up to it... Or maybe it's also the fact that I spent a lot of money on this dress and when it arrived was too frightened to ever wear it as it fits like a glove (overly fitted things scare me and I fidget a lot). 

The thing I love about this Motel dress though is 1. it has sleeves, 2. it's a smock style, and 3. it's a lovely print; and for £18 what can go wrong? I may have to purchase it at some point...

The next thing on my list is the Illamasqua lipstick. It took me a while to find the colour I really really want, but I'm still not sure if it's the correct one... I don't own an Illamasqua lipstick yet, but have heard great things from friends, so Eurydice is the one I want to purchase. My (very small) collection of lipstick doesn't contain a fuchsia shade and Eurydice is a beautiful bright matte lipstick; which ticks all the right boxes for me. 

Another want on my collage are some loafers from Office. On my last post like this I did include some that were very similar, however, with having wide feet, they looked horrible on so I didn't want to waste £58... However the new loafers that are out fit my feet perfectly (I tried them on in the Office in Lincoln the other day and was amazed). I also love the colour. 

Last but not least on this collage/wish/want list is an item I will be getting soon and am most excited about. The Canon 600D (note: I know the photo says 1100D on it but I couldn't find a 600D picture)! I've been wanting my own SLR camera since Y9 in secondary school. 8 years of wanting one and never being able to afford one. I'm still so giddy about getting one as I only found out I could afford it a couple of weeks ago. It is still incredibly expensive for me, but it's something I will use and cherish; it will also benefit me in my work and will mean my blog photos will be 10 x better. 

So this was my wishlist for this week, and from now on I will be making a collage of items like this once every week as I am now Polyvore mad!
